ON TO PROVINCIALS!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!!!!!

After a slow start in the provincial play down qualifying series losing 3-1 at home to the Woodstock Wildcats, the Jets were able to battle back and finish a closely matched series with a do or die victory in Woodstock today. Hats off to the Woodstock Wildcats for a hard fought series that went the distance. I can't say enough how evenly matched these two teams were throughout the series. Game one 3-1, Game two 2-2, Game three 2-1, and game four 2-1. It was edge of your seat action going end to end all series. Our girls never gave up, and after facing their third do or die game today they final had a chance to win the series them selves. See the rest of the article for further detail

Woodstock started out on fire today and scored in the opening shift of the game to take an early 1-0 lead. The Jets quickly realized that they would need to step up the intensity if they were going to compete in the match. The momentum quickly evened out in the next shift and it wasn't too many shifts later when Ava Coghlin came streaking in and ripped a shot over the Woodstock Wildcats glove hand to even up the match. After the remainder of the first period came to an end the teams were all knotted up heading into the second period. The second period would prove to be a battle of defensive prowess as the buzzer sounded to end the period the score remained 1-1. You could feel the tension mounting as both teams huddled around their benches taking a quick breather before the final period started. With the drop of the puck to start the third period the two teams continued on right where they left things off. The action was end to end and became more and more intense as the game progressed. At the 7:50 second mark of the third period Coghlin came into the offence zone with a pass from Austyn Croucher and threaded the puck through the Wildcats defender to Lyla Elliott who was wide open in the slot. Elliott made no mistake as she cut across in front of the Wildcats goaltender and fired a shot into the bottom corner blocker side. The crowd erupted and the Jets bench cheered as they took the lead for the first time in the game. The excitement would soon turn to anger and boos from the crowd and bench as Madison Urbshott was handed the first and only penalty of the game for tripping at 7:25. The pressure on the Jets grow as Woodstock would be on the power play, but the Jets were able to weather the storm and kill the penalty with very few shots on Goaltender Emmalyn Isabel. The action would continue on through the remainder of the period and at the 2 minute mark of the third the Jets appeared to have things under control. However, Woodstock would believe otherwise and at the one minute mark brought the puck up the ice with a full on attack. The Woodstock Goalie headed for the bench and with a tired Jets line and an extra skater the Wildcats would bring the pressure. The puck remained in the Jets end from 45 seconds on. There were several battles for the puck, and after a couple bad bounces the Wildcats had a prime opportunity to even the match, but Emmalyn fired out her left pad to deny their chance to tie the game. As the dying seconds of the period came to an end the Jets spilled out of the bench to celebrate. It was a complete team effort and a well deserved victory after an intense series. I can't say enough about the character and efforts of each and every member of the team. It isn't an easy feat to battle back and go three games straight in an elimination situation and come out on top. So, Congratulations Girls and lets keep rolling at Provincials!!!
