Atom LM White competes strong in first Tournament
The Ildertons Jet’s Atom LM White team participated in the West Lorne Black & Gold Tournament over the weekend of November 18th & 19th resulting in an overall record of 1 win, 1 tie & 1 loss.

The Jet’s traveled to West Lorne and hit the ice for their first game Friday night against the highly competitive home town West Lorne Comets in front of their home town fans. It was a tough 3 period battle for the Jet’s, coming out on the losing end of a 6-1 loss. The Jet’s demonstrated a positive attitude and fought extremely hard without giving up to the final buzzer.

The Jet’s returned to West Lorne on Saturday morning for their second game of the tournament against Ingersoll Express. Each player arrived to the arena with a refreshed positive attitude and a true sense of determination.  The Jet’s slipped on their Jersey’s, buttoned up their helmets and hit the ice with passion and intensity, producing one of the best games of their early season. The Jet’s goaltending was amazing and the forwards & defence won almost every battle along the boards, in the corners and around the net, coming out with a well-deserved 2-1 win.

The Jet’s had a three hour break in-between their second and third games, so they dedicated some time for a little team bonding at the tournament facilities that included a pizza lunch, mini-stick games, some outdoor tag, and watching some competitive hockey.

The Jet’s had to face the unbeaten Thorold Blackhawks for their third game of the tournament. The Jet’s hit the ice with true determination & fire in their eyes, believing that they could compete against a very competitive and aggressive Thorold Blackhawks team. Thorold got the first goal of the game and eventually went ahead by three (3) goals, but with the help of some amazing goaltending, great defensive play and true teamwork, the Jet’s fought back to tie the game. The last few minutes of the game proved to be some of the most exciting hockey of the Jet’s season, with extremely aggressive & intense play from both teams, and some absolutely incredible goaltending from the Jet’s. This remarkable game ended in a 3-3 tie with both teams coming off the ice with big hockey smiles, a few bumps & bruises and lots of sweat.

Unfortunately the Jet’s narrowly fell short of the championship semi-final game, but the tournament was a huge success for the Jet’s. The Parents and Coaches are extremely proud of each player as they represented IMHA and our entire community with respect and pride. Keep up the great Teamwork Jet’s!!!!
